Fast Foodies: Ashlee Good – Smashed Choc-Coconut Avocado

As I mentioned yesterday we have a couple of bonus Fast Foodies today and tomorrow!  This will round out the Fast Foodies segment for June, so tomorrow will be the last day you can get your name on the list to nab yourself a FREE copy of the Fast Foodies e-book.  Today’s Fast Foodie is Dr. Ashlee Good of ‘GoodBeing – It’s Good Being You‘.  Ashlee is a an Osteopath and IIN Health Coach who just happens to be one of my Sunny Coast neighbours.  She is a Health, fitness and inspiration junkie who thrives on helping others achieve wellness.

1. What does Wellness mean to you? And when did you begin your journey to wellness?

Wellness means making choices that nourish my body and my mind. Always choosing organic, practicing acts of self love, exercising every day, and really doing anything that ‘lights me up’.

2.Was there a specific event that set you on this path?

I have always had an interest in food and nutrition but felt uneducated. Being an Osteopath I was seeing people day in and day out suffering problems which I could see were made worse by their diet. So I set out to get educated. Reading lots of books and signing up to be a Health Coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, my passion grew by the day. And to really see that food is only a small part of wellness; Self-love, being grateful, being happy in your world, and having a purpose to serve others is all part of the journey. So it’s been a slow-evolving process, but it gets better every single day.

3.Besides a Healthy Diet, what else do you consider to be vital on the journey to wellness?

Self love number one. Gratitude. Surrounding yourself with people who lift and inspire you. Following your passion, and doing what you love. Meditation and connection. Moving your body every day. Laughter. And doing whatever you can to enjoy the amazing life that you live.

4.      What is our favourite superfood that you just can’t live without & why?

Raw cacao! Number one superfood and I am addicted. Raw cacao protein balls, smoothies, raw desserts, anything!

5.      If you could dispel one myth around food, what would it be?

That ‘gluten-free’ is good for you. Most processed foods that are labeled ‘gluten free’ are jam packed with so many other artificial ingredients that they are a bit of a chemical disaster. Next time you are at the supermarket pick up a pack of ‘gluten-free’ wraps or crackers and check the label. Scary stuff.

6.      What do you wish someone had of told you when you first started out on your wellness journey?

That it would change my life. Being healthy in all parts of my life has brought me so much gratitude and happiness. I wake up every day excited about what the day holds.

7.      What does ‘Being The Tree Of Life’ mean to you?

It means being the message. Being the change I wish to see in the world. Walking my talk, sharing my knowledge, and showing others that this life is amazing, and being healthy makes the journey so much more incredible.
